“Without music, life would be a mistake” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Do you agree with this quote? I cannot fathom a world without music, it has become such a pivotal positive element in our lives and sometimes goes unnoticed.  Did you know that even Beethoven lost his hearing and still proceeded to compose his works of genius, he found a way to compose music by following the vibrations of sound.

We grew up in a musical house and I remember my Grandmother, who was classically trained, performing at concerts and playing the piano.  My mother also had a beautiful voice and played the piano, all of these elements sparked our curiosity for music, which turned into lessons at home.  I started playing the piano at age 3… my dad, played his collection of records every Sunday, which included the likes of Nana Mouskouri, Johnny Cash and many more, not to even mention the Sunday afternoon concerts in our sitting room, with my brother and sister joining me to entertain our guests – we protested all the way and thought it was silly!! We didn’t realise the BIG picture at the time, of course my mother knew better and with her little ways she was preparing us for a bigger stage, literally.

Today, with the wealth of gadgets and instruments, we can be connected to our ‘theme song’ and playlists all the time.

Have you ever thought about all the attributes music can have in our live’s, I can think of a few:

  • Calming in a stressful situation
  • Energising your workout
  • Entertainment
  • Developing your baby’s brain while being pregnant
  • Neuro-therapy
  • Educational
